Dryad Gin Song

By Jon Guard

Lyrics

I could wake up every day and just weave around the trees
Dance through the Bluebell smell the woodland on the breeze
Watch the birds soaring, playing in the sky
Take the deepest breath to reach the highest high

I could take a daydream walk, and sit beside St Agnes well
The purest of all streams, gives the purest of all spells
The spirits of the rock, tree beauty all around
I hear Dryad Gin whispered and then rebound…Dryad Gin (echo)

Chorus
A little bit of Oak and a handful of berries leaf for well being
And a seed to make you merry
Root to make you laugh
A herb make you sing
A spell wishing for a lot of good things

A reflection of your dreams held in your hand
A connection with the soul and with the land
Close your eyes and be the bird amongst the trees A
ll senses heightened taste the woodland on the breeze… Dryad Gin (echo)

Time is crystallized… Dryad Gin (echo)

Chorus
A little bit of Oak and a handful of berries leaf for well being
And a seed to make you merry
Root to make you laugh
A herb make you sing
A spell wishing for a lot of good things

I could take a daydream walk, and sit beside St Agnes well
The purest water stream, purest of all spells
The spirits of the rock, tree beauty all around
If only I could bottle this I whisper, I whisper to the ground…Dryad Gin (echo)

About Jon Guard

I’ve been playing bass (and sometimes guitar) in bands and writing music and lyrics for almost forty years.

Alchemysts (active 1990-2002) being the most successful band I had the pleasure to be a part of, releasing four studio albums (check out Spotify) and playing SXSW in Austin Texas and a number of the highly acclaimed Terrastock festivals, as well as touring Europe and America.

More recently I’ve been playing double bass and writing and performing original songs with the great alternative country band, The Blackhole of Daisies (check out Spotify).

I love writing and producing music and when Becky approached me to write a song for Dryad Gin I felt honoured.

The song almost wrote itself; I know how much Becky loves walking and taking in the beauty and spirit of the Quantocks and I also know how much Dryad Gin is part of Beckie’s soul, so it was a matter of weaving the ideas together with a few simple chords, almost like a recipe for gin in song form.

It was a joy to write.
